Together As To Gather

For the biennale, Tenthaus practises a gathering methodology. The intention is to begin from the practices of the artists they invite and to work from there, then coming together to find the common threads of connection. This practice expands throughout the collective’s ecosystem, both locally and internationally, to include artists, designers, editors, newspapers, artist-run galleries, international biennales, and local schools to share a variety of art projects over the course of the biennale. Through this process, MOMENTUM 12: Together as to gather explores what intuitively comes out of gathering people, places and times.

Message from Galleri F 15

MOMENTUM 12 – TOGETHER AS TO GATHER serves as a reminder that we co-exist in multiple social systems, and, by addressing common issues, we can endeavour to strive for a better future.

It is my hope that this edition will also offer an opportunity for visitors to take time to reflect upon important questions such as: What is community? What communities are we part of? What do we expect from our communities? What role does resistance play in our communities?

On behalf of the entire team at Galleri F 15, I would like to thank Tenthaus for their curatorial proposal and development of the Together as to gather concept, as well as for the opportunity to experience their work structure with curated projects, embassy project, publications, Radio Tenthaus, Blikkåpnere and the live programme.

I would also like to thank each of the commissioned artists and contributors to the 12th edition of MOMENTUM, whose trust and work have been essential to the project. Sustainability, interdisciplinarity, providing an inclusive approach for our audiences, and a reconsideration of the past are at the core of the biennale. With an ever-wider audience, we hope this edition will set MOMENTUM on a path to a more inclusive future.

Tenthaus

Tenthaus Art Collective has been working together in various constellations since 2009. The collective is characterized by an open, process-oriented form of participation and collaboration. They focus on local contexts exploring collectivity and inclusion through different forms of engagement . Tenthaus began as an artists-in-schools project and over a decade later they continue to maintain strong relations to the community and works to cultivate and nurture its environment.

Today Tenthaus encompasses both a project room and an exhibition space, a mobile studio, and a wide range of curatorial projects. As a collective Tenthaus reimagines themselves and what it means to be artists working with the public, and what makes a relevant socially engaged practice today. The collective works with discursive events, radio, research, exchanges, workshops and exhibitions with an international orientation. Each of its members brings a distinct set of skills, practices and cultural knowledge.
