Lives and works in Dresden
Stephanie Lüning works with painting, drawing and sculpture and makes public art interventions. Her public foam actions push boundaries for spectators to experience three-dimensional paintings, merging one thing into another–physically, emotionally, and substantially–and capturing a point of limbo between painting and sculpture. Through the work and resulting outcomes, the process of creating a sculpture or painting becomes visible. The results of the creation fix the process in a ceremoniously visual way and thus often seem raptured, appearing to have grown and possess a life based on themselves.
For MOMENTUM 12, Lüning develops two projects. The first is a series of Collectivity Paintings created from ink derived from plant-based waste such as beetroot, onion, and walnut collected from Galleri F15 restaurant, and birch and apple tree barks from local farms. The second project is site-specific foam actions made from rainwater and collected water waste from around the exhibition venue.
